What?

ISBT Amsterdam is an international student badminton tournament organized by US-badminton, the greatest Amsterdam badminton club. The tournament is originally intended for students, but you don’t have to be a student to join us, everyone with a young spirit is more than welcome.

We will play according to a modified ladder system. This means that after the first matches a ranking is made depending on winning or loosing and the balance and that you will keep on playing during the whole tournament, even if you lose a match.

You can sign op in one of our 4 categories: A, B, C en D. You can play in two of the three disciplines: single, double or mix. If you sign up for double or mix, we will provide you with a partner so you get to know people easily!

Agenda

FRIDAY
Arrival is on Friday, any time. The sportscenter is open all day and night on Friday, so you can plan your arrival in whatever way you prefer. Of course the bar wil be open as well, providing great food and drinks.

SATURDAY
On Saturday, the matches will be played from about 9 a.m. till approximately 6.30 p.m. Sunday. After the matches we will provide you with a great diner. Maybe you will want to sleep a bit on Friday night, because on Saturday evening it will be party time! We booked a great location in the city of Amsterdam, so you will get to see more than just the sports center. For details on the party, don’t forget to look at the Party section below, we have some special requests for you..

SUNDAY
On Sunday we will start the matches as late as we can for you to get a little sleep, but prepare for 9 am. We will play until 6 pm, and dinner is served. We will conclude with the fabulous prize ceremony.

Food

Lunch will be a self help buffet with salad, bread, drinks etc. and is open from 12 p.m. till 1.30, or, until all participants are finished. We don’t like to stress to much so often we keep the food out much longer.

Party

The I AMSTERDAMNED party will be in the city and will last till about 3 a.m. It would be great if you could wear your theme outfit! The committee will definitely look frightening! mwoahahah. When you return at the sports centre, the bar in the bar is open all night again!

Transportation

Transport to Amsterdam is on your own. During the tournament we will use public transportation to the party. The ticket is on us, so you don’t have to worry about it (except the nightbus). Travel description to the sports center will be provided to you by email.

Costs

A ticket costs €45 and will provide you a fantastic weekend with breakfast, lunch and dinner on both Saturday and Sunday, 2 days of great badminton play, the party on Saturday and a public transportation card. You can pay by transferring the fee to our bank account.

Practicalities

There will be a physiotherapist available to assist with any injuries during the tournament. Please bring your own shuttles if you play with feather shuttles in Category A, B or C. Badminton-service (www.badminton-service.com) will also have a stand at our tournament. Here you can buy shuttles, shoes or a new badminton outfit and you can get your strings fixed all day.

In D category the nylon shuttles will be provided by us. You can stay the night in the hall, so you will have to bring you matress and sleeping-bag.
